Teutons can open almost with any strat, scouts would be the obvious choice for most cases, since it sets up your eco early quite nicely. The worst opponent is a mobile cav civ, especially they struggle vs CA civs, since their units are all so slow and get kited to death. I think Teutons have really good early game with their cheap farms, a mediocre castle age and can be really powerful in imperial age. They get 2+4 pierce armor and are better than some light cav of some civs with only 2 + 2 Look for positional play and do slow pushes.Īlso, raiding with scouts in the late-game is important.

When I get Teutons I try to make use of countering and play a reactionary game. I think Teutons can also use towers defensively and in the very late-game bbt can also be a nice addition to add into the composition. Against other foot archers siege is recommended. With archers it get's tricks - teutons struggle heavily against cavalry archers and that is likely their weakest weak point. Against any infantry hand cannons/ Teutonic knights are just fine. That's one of the positions you would want to aim for.Īs for the early game, there isn't actually anything wrong with going for a drush or man-at-arms into archers strategy as the main opening, however, going for scouts is the most natural and easy option to execute.Īgainst knight or other cavalry units (like conq) halbs are the best option. Teutons are good at developing a strong economy because their farms are cheaper. Not my style of play, but very strong can be Korea style with towers, taking a crucial hill, castle that and go to imp super fast. So in feudal it is scouts, in castle age it is either kts+ skirm or kts+ pikes, depending on your opponents army composition. If your opponent has a camel civ, you might need to go for knights and pikes. If your opponent is not making archers, you can a) make 1 million scouts if he has a bad map or b) go castle age as fast as you can (you should be able to get there faster with your eco), and make knights from 2 stables. In castle age you can make elite skirm + kts, which is a very strong composition. If opponent is making archers, follow up with some skirms(from 1 range to get up to castle age faster, 2 ranges to go agressive in feudal). Eco and late game is the only thing i would consider teutons to be above average (even though they lack mobility in post imp with not getting husbandry or light cav). but usually a scout build feels quite smooth with Teutons, because then you seed a lot of farms very early to maximize their eco bonus.
